Prisoners Sunday: A Day of Hope and Healing

The Beginning of the Prison Project

The Prison Project was founded in the middle of Global Covid-19. The target audience was prison chaplaincy to begin with. The initiative eventually expanded into retreats for both inmates and staff. The weekends are a time for reflection, prayer and conversation centered on faith.

Church Partnerships of Various Churches

Jesuit Institute works alongside chaplains from Anglican and Free Church traditions. They collaborate to gain security clearance for prakalpa inside the jails. All of the retreats range in duration — some are weeklong guided sessions like McDonnell’s, and others simply involve inmates getting together for group discussions (which usually have to be shorter because of prison security considerations).
