Pope meets Zelensky at Vatican for 2nd time

Pope meets Zelensky – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky finally met with his holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican for his 2nd visit, who said that many Ukrainian children lost their right to smile jus because of putin’s war mongering.

While the war is ever growing in Ukraine, claiming hundreds of innocent lives, holy see Pope Francis Wednesday received for a second time in the Vatican The Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Holy See Press Office reported that Pope Francis spoke with President Zelensky about the suffering of children in Ukraine, noting that many of them have forgotten how to smile.


This important meeting lasted for about 35 minutes inside the holy Apostolic Palace in the Vatican, on this 11 October Friday morning. It is four months after they met bilaterally on 14 June for the first time on the sidelines of the G7 in Italy’s Puglia region and over a year-and-a-half from their meeting at The Vatican on 13 May, 2023.

Another Holy See Press Office communiqué revealed that the “status of the war and humanitarian disaster occurring in Ukraine” were the focus of discussions at the Secretariat of State, including “possible methods to bring this to an end in order to secure a just sustainable peace within country.”
The statement do pointed to it stating that “several religious issues in the country were also considered”.

Subsequently, the President of Ukraine held a meeting with the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and other international organizations Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.

Also Thursday, during a visit to the blog X at the end of the meeting Pope Francis wrote:

“Every people has the right to exist in peace and security. Their territories are not to be infringed upon – above all the inviolability of their sovereignty underpinned by peace and dialogue, must be protected. War and hate only lead to death and destruction for all. #Peace”

At the end of his remarks, as always, they exchanged gifts and the Pope greeted the group accompanying President Zelensky. Pope Francis received an oil painting gift from the Ukrainian President, called “The Bucha Massacre. The Story of Marichka.”


Pope Francis, in the meantime, is reported to have gifted President Zelensky with a bronze casting of a blooming flower bearing the words: “Peace is a fragile flower.”
This year’s Message for Peace was also condemning to the President, several papal documents, book 27 March 2020 Statio Orbis (Vatican Publishing House), as well as the volume “Persecuted for Truth.

Pope meets Zelensky – Constant closeness to Ukraine

Since Russia´s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Pope Francis and Vatican officials have made repeated calls for an end to the war and the consequent suffering; they also have offered the Holy See´s collaboration in any peace process.
Pope Francis has also dispatched delegates and envoys bringing ambulances, supplies and aid to the crisis-stricken nation.
